Wood Based
Activated Carbon
Sustainable, high-mesopore carbon for decolorization and purification.
Product Overview
Our wood-based activated carbon is produced from sustainable forestry resources using phosphoric acid (chemical) activation. This process creates a carbon with predominantly mesoporous structure and exceptionally high methylene blue adsorption value, making it the preferred choice for decolorization applications.
Wood-based carbon excels in removing large organic molecules, color bodies, and impurities from liquid-phase applications. Its low ash content and high purity make it suitable for food-grade and pharmaceutical-grade applications where product contamination must be minimized.
Drawing on more than 20 years of hands-on manufacturing at our Ningxia production base, we run phosphoric acid activation in-house — from raw sawdust selection through acid recovery, washing, and batch COA testing. That first-hand production experience lets us hold methylene blue value, ash, and pH within tight, repeatable tolerances, and to supply HALAL, KOSHER, and FCC food-grade material for demanding decolorization orders.

Wood vs Coconut Shell vs Coal
Each raw material has a different pore structure and cost profile. Wood-based carbon leads on mesopore volume and methylene blue value, making it the go-to grade for decolorization and liquid-phase purification.
| Property | Wood-Based | Coconut Shell | Coal-Based |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pore structure | Macro + meso (highest mesopore) | Microporous | Meso + micro |
| Methylene blue | Up to 280 mg/g (highest) | Low–moderate | Moderate |
| Activation | Phosphoric acid (chemical) | Steam | Steam |
| Best for | Decolorization, liquid-phase, food/pharma | Drinking water, gold, food-grade | Municipal, wastewater, gas |
| Relative cost | Moderate | Premium | Lowest |
