Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) is the most widely used form of activated carbon, designed for continuous-flow fixed-bed adsorption systems. The irregular granular shape provides excellent flow distribution and high contact area, making it ideal for both liquid-phase and gas-phase applications.

Available in both coal-based and coconut shell-based varieties with multiple mesh sizes, our GAC products can be tailored to specific flow rates, contact times, and target contaminants. GAC can be regenerated thermally for multiple reuse cycles, offering long-term cost advantages.

Drawing on more than 20 years of hands-on manufacturing at our Ningxia production base, we control every step of granular carbon production in-house — from raw material selection through steam activation, sieving to precise mesh cuts, and batch-by-batch COA testing. What is the bulk density of granular activated carbon?
Bulk density of our GAC typically ranges from 0.45 to 0.55 g/cm³ depending on raw material. Coal-based GAC is 0.45–0.55 g/cm³ and coconut shell GAC is 0.48–0.55 g/cm³. Bulk density affects packing volume, backwash rates, and shipping weight.
How often should GAC be replaced?
Typical bed life is 1-3 years for drinking water and 6-12 months for industrial wastewater, depending on water quality and contaminant loading. Monitor effluent quality and replace at breakthrough.
Can GAC be regenerated?
Yes, spent GAC can be thermally regenerated at 800-900°C to restore 85-95% of original capacity, typically 3-5 cycles. For small systems, replacement is often more economical.
Coal vs coconut shell GAC?
Coal GAC is more cost-effective for industrial use with a balanced micropore/mesopore structure and hardness above 95%. Coconut shell GAC has the highest hardness (>98%), lower ash (<3%), and iodine 1000–1200 mg/g — preferred for drinking water, food-grade, and gold recovery.
What is the MOQ and delivery time?
Minimum order quantity is 1 ton. Standard grades ship within 7-10 days of order confirmation; custom specifications take 15-20 days. Free samples ship within 3-5 days.
What payment terms do you accept?
We accept T/T (telegraphic transfer) and L/C (letter of credit) for bulk orders, typically 30% deposit with the balance against a copy of the B/L. For sample orders we accept T/T or PayPal. We handle all export documentation.
