Activated Carbon

Structured carbon blocks with ultra-low pressure drop for high-volume industrial VOC removal. The efficiency of activated carbon without the fan energy penalty.

Low Pressure Drop, High Efficiency

Honeycomb activated carbon solves the fundamental trade-off in air treatment: how to maximize pollutant contact without creating excessive backpressure. The extruded honeycomb structure creates hundreds of parallel channels that allow air to flow through with minimal resistance while maintaining a large active surface area.

At 1 m/s face velocity, a 100 mm deep honeycomb bed creates less than 300 Pa pressure drop — compared to 800–1500 Pa for an equivalent granular packed bed. This translates directly to lower fan power consumption, reduced noise, and compatibility with existing HVAC systems.

100 cells/in²

High capacity, moderate flow

Thicker walls, more carbon per volume. Best for higher concentration VOC streams.

150 cells/in²

Most popular choice. Good balance of capacity, pressure drop, and structural strength.

200 cells/in²

Lowest pressure drop

Thinnest walls, maximum open area. Best for very high air volumes with low VOC levels.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is honeycomb activated carbon?
Honeycomb activated carbon is a structured block made by extruding activated carbon powder with binders into a honeycomb shape. The parallel channels provide very low pressure drop (typically <300 Pa at 1 m/s face velocity) while maintaining large contact surface area, making it ideal for high-volume industrial air treatment.
How does honeycomb carbon compare to granular carbon for air treatment?
Honeycomb carbon has 3–5× lower pressure drop than packed granular beds at the same flow rate. This means lower fan energy costs. However, granular beds typically have higher adsorption capacity per unit volume. Honeycomb is preferred when pressure drop is the limiting factor (large air volumes, existing ductwork constraints).
What is the difference between water-resistant and standard honeycomb carbon?
Standard honeycomb carbon is suitable for dry gas streams (<70% RH). Water-resistant (hydrophobic) honeycomb carbon uses special binders that maintain structural integrity in humid conditions up to 95% RH. Water-resistant grades are essential for Southeast Asian and tropical environments.
How often does honeycomb carbon need replacement?
Service life depends on VOC concentration and air volume. Typical replacement interval is 6–12 months for moderate loads. For adsorption-desorption (regenerative) systems, the honeycomb carbon can last 2–3 years with periodic hot air or steam regeneration.
Can you supply custom dimensions?
Yes. Standard is 100×100×100 mm, but we manufacture custom sizes up to 500×500×100 mm for specific equipment. Cell density (100/150/200 cells/in²) is also customizable. MOQ for custom sizes is 500 pieces. Lead time 15–20 days.
