Activated Carbon Container Load & Shipping Calculator

Turn your order quantity into a shipping plan: how many 20ft or 40ft containers you need, how many FIBC bulk bags or 25 kg bags that is, and roughly how long sea transit will take to your region. Built to help buyers scope a container-scale order before requesting a CIF quote.

Activated carbon shipments are weight-limited: a 20ft or 40ft container both cap out near 26 tons of dense carbon before hitting road weight limits at destination. Transit ranges are planning estimates and vary by carrier, routing, and season. Send your quantity and port for a firm CIF quote with current freight and lead time.

Why Activated Carbon Ships by Weight, Not Volume

Granular coal and coconut carbon has a bulk density around 480–500 kg/m³. At that density a standard container reaches its legal road weight limit at the destination — usually near 26 metric tons — well before the box is physically full. That is why a 20ft and a 40ft container often carry a similar payload of dense carbon, and why quoting is done per ton rather than per container. Lighter wood-based or powdered grades are the exception: they can fill the cube before the scale, so packable tonnage drops.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many tons of activated carbon fit in a shipping container?

Activated carbon is weight-limited, not volume-limited. Both 20ft and 40ft containers typically cap out around 26 metric tons of dense granular carbon — a 40ft container has more space but hits the same road weight limit at destination. Lighter wood-based or powdered grades may fill the volume before the weight limit, so the packable tonnage can be lower.

What is the MOQ for activated carbon?

Our minimum order quantity is 1 ton, with free samples available before you commit to a full order. For container-scale purchasing, the calculator above shows how your tonnage splits across 20ft or 40ft containers and how many FIBC bulk bags or 25 kg bags that represents.

How is activated carbon packed for export?

Common export packaging is 500–550 kg FIBC bulk bags for bulk industrial use, or 25 kg PP/paper bags on pallets for smaller lots and easier handling. The calculator converts your order into unit counts for each option so you can compare handling and warehousing at your end.

How long does sea shipping take for activated carbon?

Transit depends on destination and routing. From major Chinese ports, Southeast Asia runs roughly 14–25 days, South Asia 18–30, Middle East 20–32, Europe and US East Coast 30–42, and Latin America 30–45. Use the estimate as a planning figure and confirm the firm lead time in your CIF quote.
