8×30 Coal-Based Carbon
for Water Treatment

The cost-effective solution for industrial wastewater and large-scale water treatment. Broad pore structure removes TOC, NOM, dyes, and complex organics that coconut carbon cannot.

The Industrial Workhorse for Water Treatment

Industrial wastewater contains complex organic compounds — dyes, surfactants, humic acids, phenols — that require a carbon with both micropores and mesopores for effective removal. Coal-based activated carbon provides this balanced pore structure naturally, making it the go-to choice for wastewater treatment plants, textile mills, petrochemical facilities, and environmental remediation projects.

Our 8×30 coal GAC is produced from select bituminous coal through steam activation, developing a surface area of 900–1000 m²/g with a well-distributed pore network. The 8×30 mesh size is engineered for industrial filter vessels — providing low head loss at high flow rates while maintaining sufficient kinetics for TOC targets. At 30–40% lower cost per ton than coconut shell, it delivers the best economics for high-volume applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why coal-based instead of coconut for industrial water?
Coal-based activated carbon has a broader pore size distribution (micro + meso + macropores) compared to coconut shell (micropore dominant). This makes it superior for removing larger organic molecules like NOM, humic acids, tannins, and dyes that are common in industrial wastewater. It's also 30–40% more cost-effective per ton.
What is the TOC removal capacity?
At 10-minute EBCT and 5 gpm/ft² loading, our coal 8×30 GAC typically achieves 60–80% TOC reduction from 8 mg/L to 2–3 mg/L. Actual performance depends on the molecular weight distribution of organics. Higher MW compounds are removed more efficiently.
How does this compare to powdered activated carbon (PAC)?
GAC 8×30 in fixed beds provides consistent treatment quality with lower operator attention than PAC dosing. Operating costs are lower for continuous applications above 100 m³/hr. PAC is better suited for seasonal spikes, emergency treatment, or when existing infrastructure doesn't support GAC contactors.
Can coal-based 8×30 be used for drinking water?
Yes, but coconut shell is generally preferred for potable water due to lower ash content and fewer leachables. Our coal 8×30 can meet drinking water standards (NSF 61) with proper acid washing — available as an option. Standard grade is optimized for industrial and wastewater applications.
What is the MOQ and packaging?
MOQ is 5 tons. Available in 25 kg bags, 500 kg super sacks, or 1-ton bulk bags. For regular supply contracts (20+ tons/month), we offer dedicated production scheduling and priority shipping. Lead time 10–15 days FOB.
